IO Freedom is an intraosseous fixation system consisting of a post and lag screw construct. The compression and stability benefits are similar to IO FiX 2.0, where the incorporation of a post distributes compressive force across a greater surface area, delivering uniform compression and higher peak compression. In addition, the IO Freedom technique inserts the lag screw first, creating more flexibility of placement for the post.
