Optimizing the Gold Standard for Cotton and Evans Osteotomies
Extremity Medical, a global medical device company with expertise in the development of innovative implants for upper and lower extremities announced today the release of the OMNI Arch Anatomical Wedge System. The system has been designed to increase OR efficiency with a streamlined technique and instrumentation, as well as improve osteoconductivity through a pre-fenestrated matrix that facilitates osteoblast migration and bony in-growth. Extremity Medical announced the immediate availability of the OMNI Arch.
When asked about the OMNI Arch, Extremity CEO Matthew Lyons stated “At Extremity Medical we are committed to expanding our portfolio with highly innovative products for the foot and ankle surgeon looking to achieve better outcomes, and create real change in orthopedics.” Lyons also adds “the system provides a fresh approach on the allograft wedge; a gold-standard in orthopedics that has seen little to no enhancements over the years, we’ve set out to change that.”
The initial cases have already been completed and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Wil Adams, DPM, one of the first surgeons to implant the OMNI Arch wedges offered a comment on the system. Adams “I have used a lot of different wedge systems, both metallic and bone, for Cotton and Evans osteotomies. I believe the OMNI Arch Anatomical Wedge system has the best pre-contoured wedges I’ve ever used. Every cadaveric wedge I’ve used in the past required augmenting the size, or shape”. The OMNI Arch wedges went in with zero effort. The tamps designed for the cotton are brilliant. This is a wonderful
system that allows efficiency as well since the wedges come hydrated.”
